Choosing a handbag: size, colour and everyday use

A handbag needs to carry your day, not just complete a photograph. Start with what you take out: your phone, purse, keys, glasses and any other essentials. Lay them together before comparing bag measurements.

Read all three dimensions

Width, height and depth describe different parts of a bag. Check which measurement is which in the product listing, and remember that external dimensions do not guarantee the same usable space inside. A tapered shape, lining, divider or narrow opening can affect what fits.

Compare the listed measurements with a bag you already own. You can also mark out the width and height on paper to picture the scale. A photograph with someone holding the bag is useful context, but the written dimensions are the more dependable reference.

Think about handles and straps

Check whether the bag includes a shoulder strap, whether it is adjustable and whether it is detachable. A handle drop is different from a full strap length. Do not assume a bag can be worn crossbody simply because a long strap appears in a photograph.

Choose a colour for your wardrobe

Black can give a clear, defined finish and pair easily with many outfits. Navy can feel softer alongside denim and blue clothing. Grey can complement both lighter and darker wardrobes. These are styling suggestions, not a promise that any one colour will match every garment.

View the available colour photographs and read the listing before choosing. Screens and lighting can change how a colour looks. Images of different colours do not mean that every option is in stock or that a colour has been selected for your order.

Check the practical details

Read the material, closure and pocket information. Designer-inspired styling does not mean that an item is made by, affiliated with or equivalent to a designer brand. See our handbag buying checklist and available handbags.
