Choosing sunglasses: fit, lens information and care
Sunglasses need more than a shape you like. Before buying, check the frame measurements and the lens information stated for that particular product. A dark lens or a fashionable shape does not, by itself, establish UV protection.
Compare the measurements
Look for lens width, bridge width and arm length where available. Compare them with a pair that fits comfortably. A front-on photograph cannot tell you how tightly a frame will sit at the temples or how it will rest on your nose.
Choose a shape you enjoy wearing, then consider coverage and fit. The frame should feel stable without uncomfortable pressure. Check whether the listing provides a side view and enough detail about the arms and bridge.
Read the lens specification
Only rely on UV protection, polarisation or other lens claims when they are explicitly confirmed for the individual product. Polarisation and UV protection describe different properties; one is not a substitute for checking the other.
If a specification is missing or unclear, ask for the product information before ordering. We do not treat appearance, lens darkness or a generic category description as evidence of a protection rating.
Care for the frame and lenses
Follow the care instructions supplied with the sunglasses. Avoid placing lenses face-down, keep them away from excessive heat and use a suitable clean lens cloth. Do not use harsh household cleaning products or assume a jewellery cleaner is appropriate.
Before buying, confirm the colour, measurements, lens details and what is included, such as a case or cloth. Accessories shown in photographs are not automatically included unless the listing says so.
